ICT4D - ICT for Development
"Information, knowledge, and people-centred communication to foster development, alleviate poverty and empower citizens."

Vincent Gründler, Head of ICT4D Department

••• Information, knowledge, and communication are core elements of sustainable development efforts.  ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) has become a major factor in satisfying the demand for these elements within all development processes. ICT provides fast and comprehensive access to information and facilitates dialogue on a global, regional and local scale. One of the great achievements of ICT is that the provision of education and knowledge is is no longer restricted to institutions within the citizens' closer environment measured in and delimited by meters and miles, and of course by resources. ICT supports empowerment of citizens by providing relevant and up-to-date information on rights, available services and facilities.

••• We facilitate the implementation of information and communication technologies and services on a national as well as on a local scale to speed up development processes and to establish powerful networks at all levels. We are aware that technologies have to be adapted in order to be adapted.

••• Withing the AGEG structure, you will quite often find us working hand in hand with all the other sector departments. e-health or e-governance, even e-learning projects require in many cases the interaction of the professional expertise AGEG is providing.
