Background:The project provides new equipment for the departments of obstetrics, gynecology and neonatology including laboratory and ultrasound equipment and ambulance cars for all 53 district hospitals of the country. About 600 hospital staff are being trained in short courses and on-the-job over 3 years in the application of adequate diagnostic and treatment protocols, repair and maintenance schemes, the rational use of equipment as well as in issues of modern hospital management.
